Where the Boys Are: Two Round Top Hotshots Saddle Up as Haute Haberdashers with Cowboy House

If great minds think alike, then Cowboy House was an inevitability.

The upscale men’s fashion and accessories store – a project nurtured by friends and co-owners Marla Hurley and Laura Goodson – is now a player within the posh shopping mix of Henkel Square. The well-known Round Top figures used the Fall 2025 antiques show to launch their collaboration; a western luxe retail immersion geared to style-conscious men.

Gents have been an underserved constituency within the typical Round Top experience. Cowboy House addresses that with its stylish assemblage of men’s vintage apparel (classic Ralph Lauren, Double RL, Loro Piana, Tom Ford, Gucci, Prada and vintage Wrangler) and new accessories (gear from Lucchese, Duck Camp, Turtlebox and Yeti) with gifts and collectables such as knives, cufflinks and bolo ties thrown in for good measure.

It’s a collection thoughtfully curated by two individuals with distinctive personal style – Hurley, the luxury consignment connoisseur known for her glam fabulosity; Goodson, the acclaimed Texas artist whose western chic is as unique as her cowboy paintings.

“We both agreed that Round Top, for the most part, doesn’t cater to men, but they should,” Hurley said. “We decided to fill this need – let’s tap into it.”

Their new store (former storage space for Royer’s Pie Haven) now fits perfectly into the Henkel Square mix that both are already part of: Hurley’s Modern Marla luxury consignment boutique and Goodson’s new art gallery. Cowboy House also serves as logical brand extensions for both – Hurley’s unquenchable best-of-everything style vision and Goodson’s expanding immersion into fashion branding and one-off collaborations.

The two long-time friends said their partnership works because they share a strong work ethic and robust sense of self and place.

“We both bring different strengths to the table and work well together,” Hurley said. “Laura and I may seem like an unlikely pair as business partners, but our clients are very much the same people.”

Those people are now very much indulged within the Henkle Square-verse thanks to Cowboy House.

Cowboy House, 188 Henkel Circle, Round Top, is open Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
