Round Top may be tiny, but it has enormous bragging rights when it comes to the celebrated Festival Concert Hall.
The 1,000-seat architectural gem is the beating heart of the Round Top Festival Institute campus, home to the prestigious six-week summer orchestral training program for young global artists.
As a year-round performance venue, Festival Concert Hall sports a calendar of events including concerts, theater, solo recitals, ballet, and cultural forums.
Two summertime programs of note include:
Magnolia City Brass Band (Aug. 20): The Houston-based all-professional British-style brass band is scheduled to perform 3 to 5 p.m. Under the direction of Houston Symphony assistant principal trumpet, Robert Walp, this all-professional ensemble of brass musicians will be enjoyed within the acoustical splendor of the concert hall.
Mariachi Aztlan (Sept. 19): The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s award-winning mariachi ensemble will perform 3 to 5 p.m. in the concert hall. As part of the celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, the performance will also feature dancers from the university’s Ballet Folklorico. Mariachi Aztlan is a celebrated ambassador for Hispanic music and cultural traditions.
