Grape Expectations: Fill Your Glasses with Texas Wine

The hills are alive with the sound of… Yes, that’s the familiar pop of a wine bottle cork, and thanks to local wineries it’s a sound we wholeheartedly welcome.

The area boasts ranch vineyards and wineries that are open to the public and offer tastings (some even dining menus and live music). Blue Mule Winery: In the rolling hills of Round Top and Fayetteville stands a tasting room showcasing the efforts of a family farm’s small vineyard. While they have their own estate-grown grapes, Blue Mule also makes its own wine from outsourced grapes. Blissful Folly Farm: This farm-to-bottle enterprise might be better known for Texas mead (from Rohan Meadery on the organic farm) but it does make small batch wines. Whistling Duck Vineyards & Winery: Calling itself “uniquely Texas,” this mom-and-pop winery in Weimar produces wines handcrafted on a picturesque slice of country life. Texas Star Winery: Discover the pleasures of local wine that can be enjoyed in the heart of Bluebonnet country. Majek Vineyards & Winery: Boasting a beautiful setting and friendly atmosphere, Majek offers a tasting room as well as event space and BnB lodging. Made from 100 percent Texas grapes, Majek’s wines represent the flavors of grapes from the Texas Hill Country and High Planes. Hungry?
