Enter the House of Yo: Fabulous new shop and its beguiling owner settle comfortably into Henkel Square

Yalonda Yo lives her brand.

The owner of the impossibly chic vintage clothing and accessories shop, House of Yo, is the living embodiment of a lifestyle brand that fits hand in leather glove with the Round Top aesthetic. We’re talking about heroic pieces of timeless denim, classic leather, silver buckles, knobs of turquoise, distressed belts and hats – lived-in pieces chosen with a discerning eye.

Yo is a walking billboard for her highly curated House of Yo. You’ll find her decked out in denim on denim, rodeo buckles, fringed leather jacket and cowboy hat clamping down wind-tousled hair. It’s a vision that effortlessly conveys haute ranch homestead, southwestern luxe, Aspen glam and California cool. And that’s because Yo understands those environments and live in those places, each distinct but with their own intersecting charms that read beautifully in Round Top.

Yo is a renaissance woman with a multifaceted career: writer, photographer, foodie, fashion and jewelry designer, artist, collector, and humanitarian. She spent 25 years living Aspen adjacent (Basalt, Carbondale, Roaring Fork Valley) before moving to Los Angeles about eight years ago, igniting her designer passions. House of Yo got it start in L.A., where her easy western/boho panache caught on within a community of artists, fashionistas, creatives, and film industry types. Her interests in art, collecting and designing took off, establishing a brand that eventually made its way to Round Top where her mother, Mimi Rogers (the designer/owner of Bisou Bisou, the home design and accessories emporium) lives and works.

Yo couldn’t resist. In June – after moving to LaGrange – she opened House of Yo in Henkel Square and it’s a stunner – a charming set piece of curatorial elegance where each vintage piece, lovingly selected, seems to want to share a very personal story. Round Top, it seems, is a perfect fit not just for Yo’s brand but her own lifestyle and worldview.

“I’m completely in love with the Round Top community,” she said. “I can’t say enough about how special the people are here.”

The community is loving her back. House of Yo (which she defines as a luxury archival vintage shop) was mobbed during the Round Top Film Festival, and Yo is planning some clever programming and events for the holidays and the new year. She said she’s excited to be a part of a community of committed individuals and hardworking creatives – precisely the type of environment where House of Yo can thrive.

Come by and say “Yo,” she said. You’ll find an energetic, informed, naturally inquisitive woman who truly wants to get to know you.

“You may no buy anything, but we can be human and connect,” she said. “What really matters to me is that we have an interaction.”
